Johanna Price Photography in 2011
March 20, 2011Hello!
If you follow me on Twitter or my personal blog, you know that on Nov. 19, 2010, a little baby boy was born in Utah, and we were chosen to be his parents! It was a very fast placement and a bit of whirlwind. In the chaos of new baby+holidays+abrupt maternity leave from my day job, something had to give, and that something was this gig.
Thank you to my clients, past and future, for giving me some grace as we adjusted to life as a family of three, and as I have been adjusting to being a working mom.
I’ve really been thinking and praying about what I wanted to do regarding this business, and I was very close to giving it up all together, but at the end of the day, I love photography.
I love taking pictures; I love capturing those priceless, brief moments of babyhood and childhood. Now that I am a mother myself, I get how fleeting they truly are.
I have been taking pictures during this time off, but they’ve all been of the same subject!
This is Harry at 3 days old, taken in a hotel room in Salt Lake City. I pulled a chair in front of the big window, and we ran to Walmart to get a big soft blanket. Sometimes you gotta make do!

We got back to Minnesota when he was 6 days old, so on his one-week birthday, we were able to have a real little session in my home studio:

And he’s been growing like a weed ever since! I take his picture daily (mostly with my iPhone), but we have a little session every Friday and every month on the 19th. Here are a few of my favorites:

I am currently booking from May forward, but will be shooting on a much-reduced basis, which means only a few sessions a month.
Another change is that there will be an additional charge to hold a newborn session on location.
Spring is almost here, which means summer is on its way as well. I look forward to getting outside and taking your picture!
