One of my first newborn clients came back to visit me this weekend. He has grown so much!

We were lucky enough to have a gorgeous Fall day (probably one of our last!), which meant we could go outside for a few shots too. The sun is setting early, but I’m loving the light.

Meet Josie dog, a  2-year-old Lab mix …

It was a cold morning!

This picture made me laugh as soon as I saw it. Reminds me of the dogs in Up! It’s almost like you can hear her thinking SQUIRREL!

It was great to spend the morning with you Josie girl!

I met up with Amy & Nick last month for their maternity session. And only a few weeks later their little one arrived, 11 days early! I got to meet him this weekend, on his 10-day birthday.

He’s a beautiful baby …

A hint of a smile…

My friend Maria, in California, made this hat. Little did I know that Amy & Nick are Packer fans (boo hiss). But it was a perfect fit …

Back in April, I shot one of my very first newborn sessions with a sweet, tiny new baby. Well now he’s a smiley, happy chunk of a boy. It’s so much fun to get to see them grow up!

(I also have to say that while I love all babies at all ages, I especially love this age. They smile and giggle and they have delicious chubby legs, and best of all for me, they stay in one spot!)

Sometimes there are images they may not be the best technically, but you connect with them on an emotional level. I shot these quickly after C. had a little snack break. I love the faces!

Because we had our first snow on the day of his session (yes, snow in October — welcome to Minnesota!), we weren’t able to take any outdoor shots, but we still got to use this adorable hat! I love hats, and I’m so happy we’re back in hat season!

I’m a dog person. (With four dogs, I think that’s safe to say.) Dogs — especially dogs who have a new baby in the house — sense this about me. During breaks and outfit changes, sweet Rocket (who makes me want a Spring Spaniel!) would come in and sit as close to me as possible. I can take a hint, Rocket.

Thank you for having me out again, F. family! It was great to see you, and a joy to photograph C. again. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek, and I can’t wait to send you the rest!

This morning I had the pleasure of heading down into St. Paul to meet up with sweet Jane, an inquisitive, darling 15 month old toddler. (Whose birthday is just one day before mine! Well, I have a few decades on her, but still. I love meeting other June babies!)

Like most kids (and adults!) she was a little unsure of the crazy lady with the big camera at first …

But she warmed up quickly …

Morning is a great time for a session, because you get soft golden light like this …

Angie & Phil are expecting their first baby next month. I met up with them at their home to capture this special time, as they wait on baby’s arrival.

They are Seed to Sprout clients, which means I’ll be meeting up with them once their little one comes, and again at 6 and 12 months. I’m so excited to be able to capture baby’s first year.

At the end of our shoot, M. was zonked out. I love posing babies in their daddy or mama’s hands. Someday these photos will be a sweet reminder of how tiny baby once was:

She came back to see me, and this time with her beautiful baby girl, L.

At the start of our session, L. was alert and content.

But photo shoots are hard work, and after a while, she was happy to hang with daddy…
